PSA Script

Hi, today I would like to talk about a problem in our society: lung cancer. Everybody has the potential to be apart of this epidemic, even nonsmokers! For example, nonsmokers can ruin their lungs through the environment or second hand smoking. According to the United Nations website, lung cancer deaths will double in about 20 years, according to the trend today of daily users. Furthermore, it is reported that 80,000-100,000 adolescents have started smoking on a daily basis. One obvious solution that I can offer is just to quit smoking to a minimum. However, there are other solutions such as cleaning up the environment and having a healthy diet. So, think about your health and plan to make a change so in the future, you will breathe easier.

Triple Bottom Line

My capstone project does have a correlation with the triple bottom line. For example, the people who are affected is the overall general population. Although my project targets the youth, lung cancer does have the potential to target everybody. Using some of the prevention techniques and suggestions, the overall population will benefit. For the environment, reducing smoking and cleaning up the environment is beneficial to everybody. It would make the air less toxic and helps reduce the global warming issue. For the economic aspect,  the end product will be available for all. Basically, its a slight modification of an original idea that targets if the individual is subjected to lung cancer and furthermore it gathers the concentration of the gases present. Any new suggestions are welcomed.

Damaged Lungs

This is what smoking does.

Lung Cancer Awareness

Lung Cancer is an issue among adolescents. There are numerous ways to be exposed to lung cancer. For example, smoking is one way. On the other hand, the environment is also an issue too. The sad part is that nonsmokers now have the chance to get this potential epidemic. Through my project, I am exploring some of the possible sources of lung cancer and trying to promote awareness through statistics and my end product. The reason why I am so focused on this subject is because I had a friend that passed away by metastasis lung cancer. The worst part was that he was not a smoker and he did not get to live life to fullest.

Please be free to discuss any ideas or solutions for this problem. Different viewpoints are vital since this is a worldwide epidemic.
